This review is about the Sony A7s mirror less camera, which I used in both Video and time-lapse video. To me this camera is a game changer for Pro and amateur filmmakers

Alexandria City “ Part 2 “
Let me start with the time-lapse video
So Alexandria is a sequel to my first short film “Alexandra City ” and I wanted to do this video entirely time lapse, I was luckily introduced to the Sony team in Egypt and I was able to use the A7s , I read so many good reviews about the camera and I was so excited to use it. To me the most advantage of this camera is that the files of the images are half the sizes of the canon 5D mk3 and yet high quality and high dynamic range of an image, which make my life so much easier in editing and rendering and also saves up storage spaces. Many people complained about the battery which I kind agree but still with one battery I was able to shoot exactly 1800 RAW files and I still had 28 % left on my battery, which is not bad, just add a battery grip and I think you are fine.
I really don’t like to add pros and cons to a camera because it varies of how each photographer uses the camera, but for time lapse this is a great camera, gives outstanding images and very reliable to my work. So amazed that this small compact Full frame mirror less camera does all this, I call this a Game Changer.

Shooting video with the A7S
During my travels in Faces of Egypt Project, Muhammed Ibrahim the cinematographer manages the behind the scenes footages.
Will get some Q & A from him:
Koree: What lenses did u used ?
MI: Canon 16-35 mm on the Sony to EF adapter, And most of the shots was shot on the Sony 24-70 mm
Koree: What settings did you used?
MI: I shot 1080p 24fps all the time and Slog2 picture style.
Koree: what are the special features did you like in the a7s ?
MI: I like how small and portable it is. You can carry it around without making any attention at all. (But there is a big chance you will look like a tourist) and the weight was a plus for balancing it on a Glidecam so you can move it around for more time. Also the autofocus combo with Sony 24-70 is superb, saved me in so many situations. And I can’t mention how I fell in love with the digital viewfinder, I used it all the time in the morning shooting to check my exposure and focus without any need to attach cables to an external monitor. This camera is already famous with its lowlight magic power so I cant say much about that. Its not only just a new upgraded camera but its a package, You can just use it handheld for shooting in location without making any attention or you can attach it to a big cinema rig and you still getting a very good quality out of both. Koree: In post production , was the settings useful for color grading ? and what program did you use ?
MI: I used Davinci Resolve 11 , Shooting in Slog2 was definitely very helpful, you can bring make so many details easily without making it look weird. Its wonderful for documentary work so you don’t have to shoot raw with big file sizes but yet shoot SLog and you will get a good recovery in a small file size.
