Decathlon winter campaign 2023
The Brief
My second campaign with decathlon, a brand and client that I really had so much fun working with, Decathlon is an outdoor and sports brand, And they are all about life outdoors which is mostly my lifestyle, so we both had the same language and ideas that makes our work very easy.
The brief was the idea of gifting someone a present from decathlon, a present that always makes a group interact and create lovely memories, such as the ping pong collapsable net which can open up with attach to any table and you can start playing ping pong, but they wanted to focus on the winter collection which were fleeces, chairs, bags, tents and boots.
So what came to my mind was the tent, that usually pushes you to use it and camp out doors, so I started the story of a person who’s birthday was a day ago and he is bored playing PlayStation, looking to his new present he thinks of contacting his friends and plan an adventures trip and use his brand new tent
Planning
We settled the location of the shoot and amount of days which was 2 days in the white desert. We needed to cast (4 athletes) that are suitable for the shoot, so we all decided on them, one of them is from the decathlon team. Then we did the fitting process so we know what they are going to where and what bags are they are going to carry. Once that was done and all agreed on, we started the production right away.
I communicated with my guide in the white desert to prep all arrangement necessary for 10 people as we will be camping one night in the desert, so his responsibility was the 4 by 4 cars, Food, permits and providing electricity for recharging.
Day 1
We packed all the gear needed for the shoot and headed off to the white desert where we met our guide. The first stop was the black desert, we unloaded all our gears into 3 cars and we hit the road. From the hotel we were staying at the night before it took us half an hour to the black desert.
The shot list is that they ascend on the peaks as a group and once they summit they take a break and enjoy the view. The weather was not the usual, there were clouds scattered all over giving this diffuse light. But capturing everything on Camera was great. I took photos as well with the video so we just rehearsed a couple of times for SPU that the client requested such as the boots and bags.
